This new series explores the meeting point of the soft and the ancient. The composition is inspired by the monumental forms of the ancient stone circles of the UK, particularly those near my studio in Cornwall.

The shimmering whites and subtle textures are a direct nod to the brilliant, contrasting quartz found across the Cornish landscape and embedded within the stones of the Duloe stone circle.

I painted the first pieces in the Made In Italy series in Rome while I was thinking about how Frank Stella said it was his father who taught him to paint straight lines while painting houses. Found composition. Sunday morning hunt. 🍬 🍭

I dreamt him back into my reality after 30 years. We met on a corner in Kensington, both saying "My fave artist is showing...shall we go?" We walked and I said "I like Morris Minors. We turned the corner to see one parked, deep burgandy and wooden slates on its shell. Silent walking. Silent feelings flooding in.
He held the door open for me...He motioned...Brice Marden was standing there in the white space. Both of us were so struck by the new fact that we'd be together forever so we didn't approach. ...amidst others asking for selfies. Instead I chatted with a security guard. He said how much he liked Marden as not all artists were nice. "This one's a good one."
he said. We floated around the empty/filled square spaces some more. The space in our hearts filling up with the warmth of Terre Verte. That he might never know his role in our deep love...not on this earthly plane anyways. That his birthday would be our true anniversary. That his exhibition would be our true wedding spot.
